BOSTON — Ian Gillespie, Founder and CEO of Gillespie and Co., Inc., will be a featured speaker at the upcoming “Multifamily, Affordable Housing & MBTA Communities Act Roundtable,” hosted by Boston Real Estate Times on April 22 at the Burlington Marriott Hotel.

The event, scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., comes at a critical time for the housing sector in Massachusetts, as industry leaders grapple with the implications of the MBTA Communities Act, ongoing supply shortages, and rising construction and capital costs.

Gillespie is expected to offer a developer’s perspective shaped by decades of experience across both commercial and residential real estate. Over his career, he has overseen more than 1.5 million square feet of office development for technology and consumer goods companies. His firm has also played a key role in large-scale residential planning, including a 350-unit project in Concord developed in partnership with Trammell Crow Company.

In addition to development, Gillespie’s background in brokerage and consulting positions him to address broader market dynamics, including project feasibility, permitting challenges, and evolving investment strategies. His insights are expected to contribute to discussions around how developers can navigate increasingly complex regulatory and financial environments while advancing housing production.

The roundtable will cover a wide range of topics, including innovative financing approaches, mixed-income housing models, and the real-world impact of zoning reforms tied to transit-oriented development. Panelists will also examine strategies to address the region’s persistent housing supply gap.

Other speakers at the event include John B. Cruz III, President and CEO of Cruz Companies; David A. Libardoni, Partner at Nutter; Michael J. Mattos, Executive Director of Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative, Inc.; and Moddie Turay, President and CEO of Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation.

The event is part of their ongoing breakfast series designed to foster candid, solutions-oriented discussions among senior professionals across the real estate industry. With a focus on one of the state’s most pressing challenges, the April 22 roundtable is expected to draw strong interest from developers, investors, policymakers, and housing advocates.
