BOSTON — Michael J. Mattos, Executive Director of the Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative, Inc. (AHSC), will join a distinguished panel of industry leaders at the upcoming “Multifamily, Affordable Housing & MBTA Communities Act Roundtable,” hosted by Boston Real Estate Times on April 22 at the Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA.

Scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the roundtable comes as Massachusetts faces mounting pressure to address its housing affordability crisis amid rising construction costs, constrained supply, and the ongoing implementation of the MBTA Communities Act.

Mattos brings a vital nonprofit and community development perspective to the discussion. Under his leadership, AHSC has completed more than 47 real estate projects and helped create or preserve over 3,300 affordable housing units across the state. The organization is widely recognized for its collaborative approach, working with public agencies, private developers, and financial institutions to deliver housing solutions for low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.

At the roundtable, Mattos is expected to share insights into how mission-driven organizations can partner effectively with the private sector to expand housing production while maintaining affordability. His perspective will also shed light on the practical challenges of delivering projects in today’s cost environment and the importance of creative financing and policy alignment.

The program will feature a broad discussion on key industry issues, including innovative funding strategies, evolving affordable housing models, and the implications of zoning reforms tied to transit-oriented development. Panelists will also explore actionable solutions to help close the region’s persistent housing gap.

Mattos will be joined by a panel that includes John B. Cruz III, President and CEO of Cruz Companies; Ian Gillespie, Founder and CEO of Gillespie and Co., Inc.; David A. Libardoni, Partner at Nutter; and Moddie Turay, President and CEO of Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation.

The event is part of Boston Real Estate Times’ ongoing breakfast roundtable series, which convenes senior real estate professionals for thoughtful, solutions-focused dialogue. With growing urgency around housing affordability, the April 22 gathering is expected to draw strong interest from across the industry.
