Milton, MA— A new neighborhood market and café is set to open this summer in Milton, bringing fresh food, coffee, and community-focused retail to a historic building in the heart of Milton Village.
Called Two Pence Market, the project comes from the team behind the popular local restaurant Steel & Rye. The market will be located in a reimagined former bank building at 2 Eliot Street, transforming a long-vacant landmark into a new community hub.
The venture is led by restaurateur Dan Kerrigan and co-owner and culinary director Brendan Joy, in partnership with developer JD Wild of The Elevated Companies.
Two Pence Market will offer a range of quick-service, house-made food options, including bagels, salads, grain bowls, pasture-raised proteins, smoothies, and locally roasted coffee. The space will also feature a curated retail section for wine and spirits, uniquely housed inside the building’s original bank vault.
Executive Chef Alison Hearn will oversee the culinary program alongside Joy.
“We wanted to create a space that feels like it’s always been a part of the neighborhood,” Kerrigan said. “Whether you stop in for a quick coffee, a meal, or items for a dinner party, Two Pence is meant to add to the everyday rhythm of Milton.”
Joy emphasized convenience and quality, saying the concept is designed to deliver “ingredient-driven food that fits into people’s everyday lives.”
The space will include indoor and outdoor seating, a fireplace, two patios—including one with a pergola—and a walk-up window for takeout and seasonal offerings like ice cream.
Developers said the project aims to preserve the building’s historic character while creating a modern gathering place. “Two Pence honors Milton’s past while creating a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike,” Wild said.
Positioned as more than just a market, Two Pence Market is envisioned as a community hub—offering a place for locals to connect, dine, and gather throughout the day.
