Boston— Suffolk recently convened top minds from across the built environment for its inaugural Climate Tech Forum, held at the company’s headquarters in Boston. The event brought together a dynamic mix of industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, contractors, designers, and public officials to confront one of the most pressing issues facing the sector: climate change.
Co-hosted by Suffolk’s Sustainability Group and Suffolk Technologies—its venture capital arm focused on early-stage built environment startups—the Forum was designed to spark meaningful dialogue and actionable strategies to accelerate the adoption of climate technologies within the construction industry.
“The construction industry is at a critical juncture in addressing climate change, with nearly 40 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions attributable to the construction and operation of buildings,” said Steven Burke, Senior Director of Sustainability at Suffolk. “Our Climate Tech Forum represents our commitment to not only implementing sustainable solutions on our own projects but also sharing knowledge and creating frameworks that can help transform the entire industry.”
The event focused on three high-impact themes: circularity, industrial decarbonization, and software-driven sustainability solutions. Attendees participated in startup showcases, case study presentations, and interactive breakout sessions aimed at identifying scalable approaches to sustainable construction.
Among the innovations spotlighted:
Sublime Systems, developing low-carbon alternatives to traditional cement.
Pozzotive, which transforms post-consumer glass into concrete additives.
Tangible, an AI-powered platform that facilitates lifecycle assessments to optimize materials for more sustainable building designs.
“Driving meaningful climate action in the construction industry requires innovation and collaboration with multiple stakeholders throughout the entire ecosystem,” said Nick Dhimitri, Executive Vice President at Suffolk. “By bringing together thought leaders, change-makers, and influencers at our Climate Tech Forum, we’re shaping a more sustainable future and creating a roadmap to get there.”
Suffolk continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in green building by leveraging cutting-edge technology, data analytics, and AI. The Forum underscored the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable results that meet both environmental targets and economic goals—without compromising efficiency.
With a growing portfolio of partnerships and investments aimed at decarbonizing the built world, Suffolk is positioning itself at the forefront of a new era in construction—where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand.
