BOSTON – Kaplan Construction announced that Mathew Ash has joined the firm as safety director.
Mathew is responsible for developing and maintaining Kaplan’s environmental health and safety program, ensuring safety compliance in the field, and conducting employee training. He analyzes incident reports to uncover trends and better implement preventative measures. Mathew is highly effective at leading and engaging employees at all levels, from field staff to senior management.
Backed by a 21-year career in the U.S. Coast Guard, Mathew’s transition into the construction industry was a natural extension of his dedication to safety and knack for leadership. Mathew has a deep understanding of all local, state, and federal safety regulations in this rapidly evolving industry.
“Having Mathew join our team is a tremendous asset for the firm,” said Nathan Peck, president of Kaplan Construction. “His extensive safety experience, combined with military service, brings a level of dedication and discipline that will further strengthen our exemplary safety culture. His leadership will be pivotal in reinforcing our commitment to a safe and secure environment for every project member.”
Prior to joining Kaplan, Mathew served as a senior safety manager for Suffolk Construction. There he oversaw safety operations on a wide range of ground-up construction projects, including those in the gaming, commercial, and educational sectors. Mathew holds a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and is a certified CPR/first aid instructor through the National Safety Council (NSC).
