BOSTON— Ionic Development Company announced the promotion of Briana Pinheiro to Partner, a move that strengthens the firm’s women-led leadership team and signals continued strategic growth in the New England commercial real estate market.
With over 15 years of experience managing high-impact real estate projects, Pinheiro’s promotion underscores Ionic’s commitment to innovative, community-focused development. Her elevation to partner marks a key moment in the company’s evolution as it expands its reach across the region.
Pinheiro has led the delivery of more than 5 million square feet of commercial real estate valued at over $750 million. Known for her ability to integrate technical excellence with financial acumen and a strong design sensibility, she brings a uniquely comprehensive approach to real estate development. Her academic foundation in mechanical engineering, combined with her ongoing graduate studies in Real Estate Development and Finance at Georgetown University, equips her to tackle projects with both rigor and creativity.
“Briana’s leadership and expertise have been instrumental in our success,” said Kaitlin McCarthy, Founder and CEO of Ionic Development Company. “As Partner, she will play a key role in further strengthening Ionic’s commitment to innovative, community-focused development.”
At Ionic, Pinheiro leads deal structuring and value creation strategies, ensuring that projects not only deliver returns but also reflect the firm’s mission of building lasting community value. Her leadership was central to Ionic’s successful bid for Parcel 5 in Providence’s I-195 District, a major milestone for the company and a testament to its expanding influence in the region.
“I’m honored to join Ionic’s partnership team and excited to continue to advance the company’s mission of delivering transformative real estate developments,” said Pinheiro. “Our projects are about more than buildings; they’re about creating vibrant communities and opportunities for growth.”
Ionic’s active development portfolio includes the Providence Art & Design Center, created in collaboration with Wade Keating Architects, and Parcel D-4 in Boston’s Seaport District—the neighborhood’s first all-affordable housing development—being developed with The Menkiti Group, Sinclair Real Estate, and The Community Builders.
Beyond development, Ionic continues to grow its consulting footprint, contributing to major projects such as 24 Drydock Avenue in Boston, the Baldwinville School Apartments—Templeton’s first multifamily housing in 25 years—and 526 Main Street in Worcester, a revitalized historic property now home to coworking, retail, and maker spaces in the city’s Theatre District.
