Construction executive brings nearly 30 years of industry experience and 17 years with Skanska to new leadership role

BOSTON — Skanska has promoted Anubhav “Abu” Bhargava to executive vice president and general manager of the company’s New England Operating Unit, giving the construction and development firm executive responsibility for its operations across the region.

In his new role, Bhargava will oversee the New England business, including its strategy, performance and growth.

“Abu’s leadership, deep industry expertise and ability to build strong relationships have been instrumental to the continued success of our New England business,” said Kerim Evin, regional executive officer for the Northeast Region at Skanska USA Building.

Evin said Bhargava has demonstrated an ability to expand the business, develop high-performing teams and deliver complex projects while maintaining a strong focus on clients.

“We are confident that Abu is the right leader to guide our New England Operating Unit into its next chapter,” Evin said.

Nearly three decades in construction

Bhargava brings nearly 30 years of construction industry experience, including 17 years with Skanska.

He joined Skanska in 2008 as a project executive and operations manager in Maryland. Five years later, he relocated to Massachusetts and took on a series of increasingly senior leadership positions.

Most recently, Bhargava served as senior vice president and account manager.

During his career, he has worked across a diverse range of construction sectors, including life sciences, higher education, aviation, federal projects, commercial development, transportation and manufacturing.

His project experience in New England includes several major developments, among them the Massport Central Garage TNC Relocation, NOAA OMAO Ship & Support Facility, Terminal E Garage & Roadways Project, 733 10th & G Project and Simmons University’s Living and Learning Center.

Bhargava has also been involved in advancing Skanska’s “One Skanska” approach, which emphasizes collaboration and partnerships across the company’s various businesses.

Focus on growth and collaboration

Skanska said Bhargava’s leadership has been characterized by an emphasis on building strong teams, developing client relationships and managing complex projects.

The company said those efforts have helped position its New England operations for long-term growth while strengthening relationships with clients, employees and other industry stakeholders.

His promotion comes as the construction industry continues to navigate demand across sectors including life sciences, higher education, infrastructure, transportation and advanced manufacturing—areas in which Bhargava has extensive experience.

Bhargava earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Regional Engineering College in Kurukshetra, India, and a master’s degree in construction management from Arizona State University.

In his new position, he will lead Skanska’s New England Operating Unit as the company continues to pursue construction and development opportunities across the region.
