WOBURN, February 17, 2017 – Godavari restaurant will nearly double its space at 9 Cummings Park this spring, expanding to more than 5,000 square feet. It is ranked as the top Indian restaurant in Massachusetts, according to India New England News.
“Godavari is always busy,” according to Cummings Properties account manager Kathryn Jendrick. “Babu’s restaurant is the only one in the area that offers true South Indian food, which has created a large following.”
Owner Koushik “Babu” Koganti hopes to accommodate his existing customers and attract new ones by increasing his seating capacity from 85 to 160. He is in the process of a complete floor-to-ceiling renovation, including the installation of an upscale kitchen with a 24-foot cooking range.
Godavari features more than 100 varieties of “dosas,” which is a pancake made of fermented batter that is a staple of South Indian cuisine. Many of the authentic dishes are spicy and several include coconut.
Godavari came to Cummings Park in 2015. It was the first of 13 locations across the nation. Koganti calls Woburn his “anchor” location, saying that its success is what made the other locations possible.
“We’ve welcomed a number of interesting new businesses to Cummings Park in recent years,” said Jendrick. “The campus has a lot to offer, from Indian, Japanese, and locavore food options to yoga and spinning studios. And Woburn Library will make its temporary home here this spring, providing another great reason for locals to visit.”
Godavari is open seven days a week, even during the renovation, and offers a daily buffet, complete with dessert.
