BOSTON — Suffolk announced the appointment of Peter Cormier as Senior Vice President of Field Operations and National Transportation, a key strategic hire aimed at accelerating the company’s growth in the aviation and transportation sectors.
Cormier, an experienced aviation construction leader, brings decades of expertise managing complex airport infrastructure projects. His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the aviation industry, as the Airports Council International projects that U.S. airports will require $173.9 billion in infrastructure investments over the next five years.
In his new role, Cormier will lead Suffolk’s national field operations and spearhead growth in the aviation sector, ensuring projects meet the highest standards of safety, scheduling, and budget performance. He will also support Suffolk’s national project delivery and pursuit efforts across major airport developments.
“We are thrilled to welcome Peter to our leadership team as we strengthen our position in the aviation sector,” said Sam Sleiman, Executive Vice President of National Transportation at Suffolk. “Peter brings valuable perspective to Suffolk at a pivotal time for aviation construction nationwide. As airports continue modernizing their facilities to meet growing passenger demands, Peter will be instrumental in expanding Suffolk’s aviation footprint across the country.”
Cormier joins Suffolk from Cranshaw Construction, where he served as Project Executive. His portfolio includes high-profile projects such as the Terminal B Optimization at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Massport’s 2050 Garage Expansion, and Harvard University’s Dunster House Renovation. His deep familiarity with aviation logistics and operational complexity uniquely positions him to advance Suffolk’s reputation as a national leader in airport infrastructure.
“I am excited to join Suffolk and lead the company’s aviation operations,” said Peter Cormier. “Suffolk’s innovation-driven approach and operational excellence makes it a natural partner for complex airport projects. The company’s philosophy resonates deeply with me, as it emphasizes an understanding of owner perspectives and needs in this specialized sector. I look forward to building on Suffolk’s strong foundation and helping shape the future of aviation construction.”
Suffolk’s aviation credentials include projects such as Terminal C renovations and the electric central utility plant (eCUP) at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), expansions at Tampa International Airport, and the 14-gate Terminal E concourse at Southwest Florida International Airport. Its work at Boston Logan’s Terminal E has garnered global recognition, earning a Prix Versailles honor and CMAA Project Achievement Awards.
Across these projects, Suffolk continues to deploy advanced construction technologies including drones, robotics, AI tools, IoT sensors, and laser scanning—delivering meaningful improvements in efficiency and cost savings.
