NORWOOD, Mass. — Thrive Buildings has partnered with CPower to launch a new demand management offering designed specifically for critical environments such as laboratories and cleanrooms, the companies announced Tuesday.

The collaboration aims to help energy-intensive facilities safely participate in demand response and energy flexibility programs while maintaining strict operational, safety, and compliance standards.

The announcement comes as capacity costs continue to surge in energy markets, with some regions experiencing increases of as much as 262% year over year. For facilities such as research labs, pharmaceutical operations, and cleanrooms — where uninterrupted performance is essential — rising utility costs have become a growing financial challenge.

By combining Thrive Buildings’ expertise in critical facility operations with CPower’s demand response platform, the companies say customers will be able to reduce operating expenses while potentially generating additional revenue through participation in energy flexibility programs.

“We are very excited about this partnership and will be announcing several others in the near future, all of which are aimed at directly helping our clients manage costs in this new energy environment,” said Dan Diehl.

Diehl said the partnership expands Thrive’s capabilities beyond energy efficiency and into the supply side of energy management, allowing customers to maximize savings while minimizing operational disruption.

“These facilities are mission-critical and must meet stringent operating requirements, but they also represent, many times, the biggest opportunity for efficiency gains and critical operating control improvements,” he said.

Demand response programs allow facilities to reduce or shift electricity usage during periods of peak grid demand, helping stabilize the electrical system while lowering energy costs for participating customers.

Jay Snyder said the partnership will help critical-environment operators participate in those programs without compromising reliability or compliance requirements.

“CPower looks forward to working with Thrive Buildings to help customers generate revenue and reduce costs while maintaining operations and compliance by participating in demand response and energy flexibility programs,” Snyder said.

The companies said additional details, including an upcoming educational webinar, will be announced in the coming weeks.
