BOSTON–IFMA Boston will host a virtual webinar on June 4 focused on the growing importance of electrical preventative maintenance programs and compliance with updated NFPA standards.

The session, titled “Partner Series: EG Sawyer NFPA 70B and 70E – The Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance,” will take place via Zoom from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. The webinar is free for IFMA Boston members and $25 for non-member guests.

Presented in partnership with Edward G. Sawyer Co., Inc., the program will examine how the National Fire Protection Association’s updated NFPA 70B and 70E standards have shifted electrical preventative maintenance from a recommended practice to a mandatory requirement since 2023.

The webinar will also address OSHA enforcement, compliance expectations, insurance implications, and strategies for developing effective electrical maintenance programs. Industry experts will explain key code requirements and discuss how organizations can prepare for inspections and avoid costly penalties.

Featured speakers include Mike Joyner, a licensed electrician with extensive testing and maintenance certifications, and Scott Jackson, who brings four decades of experience in the electrical industry.

Founded in 1864, Edward G. Sawyer Co. is recognized as the nation’s oldest continuously operating electrical firm. Originally based in Boston’s Court Square area, the company began by maintaining gas streetlights before transitioning into electrical services and has since grown into one of the region’s largest electrical contractors.
