Washington, D.C. – Nitsch Engineering, a Boston-based firm that specializes in providing engineering and planning services for infrastructure and site development projects, announced the opening of their new Washington, D.C. office.

The company’s fourth office allows Nitsch to better serve their existing clients and projects in the District, Virginia, and Maryland.

Nitsch CEO Lisa A. Brothers, PE, ENV SP, LEED AP BD+C, said, “We’ve been providing planning and engineering services in the Mid-Atlantic area since 2000, when we began a long-term relationship with the University of Virginia. Since then we’ve worked on more than 30 projects, including our current projects with DC Water integrating green infrastructure solutions into streetscapes, and with the University of Virginia preparing a stormwater master plan for the East Range. We’re excited that opening our D.C. office gives us the opportunity to become an even stronger presence in the area, and to bring our mission of ‘building better communities with you’ to the District, Virginia, and Maryland.”

Nitsch has provided innovative planning and engineering services in the District, Virginia, and Maryland, including the District’s Canal Park, dozens of projects at UVA, and the John W. Elrod Commons at Washington and Lee University. In a 2013 international design competition, Nitsch was selected as a Green Infrastructure Challenge winner by DC Water. As part of this project, Nitsch designed innovative solutions to absorb stormwater before it enters the combined sewer system; the company integrated 33 green infrastructure best management practices within a single city block. Nitsch is now working with AKRF and Anchor Construction to implement green infrastructure solutions for DC Water across the Rock Creek watershed.

Nitsch Engineering’s new office is located at 2175 K Street, NW, Suite 320, Washington, D.C. 20037. The company’s other offices are located in Boston (headquarters), Lawrence, and Worcester, Massachusetts.
