BOSTON– Suffolk recently hosted students from four Boston high schools at its headquarters in Roxbury during Massachusetts STEM Week for a day of learning about the role of STEM in the construction industry today.

The students, from Madison Park Technical Vocational High School, John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science, Excel High School and Roxbury Prep, learned about the various career paths in construction and had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A and panel discussion with Suffolk leaders. The day featured a presentation from Lauren E. Jones, Massachusetts Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, who encouraged the students to ask questions, lean in, be curious and explore their passions.

The students also were given a demonstration of Boston Dynamics’ “Spot the Robot Dog,” a four-legged robot that Suffolk uses to streamline the process of site documentation. Suffolk is one of the only general contractors in the country that owns this robot and uses it on its jobsites.
