BOSTON—Walsh Brothers, a family-owned fourth-generation construction management company, announced that John Greenip will be joining as the Chief Strategy Officer.

John will be responsible for the firm’s strategic approach to and growth within a changing marketplace. Building off Walsh Brothers’ history of remarkable achievements in the institutional market, John will not only help guide the continued success, but also expand the focus on alternate delivery methods and evolving market sectors.

“We could not be more excited to welcome John Greenip into the firm,” said Richard C. Walsh, President and CEO of Walsh Brothers. “Having known him and competed against him for many years, I can’t overstate enough the depth of his experience and understanding of the industry that he brings to Walsh Brothers. John’s unmatched resume of national and regional strength partnered with a deep focus on company culture will perfectly complement and enhance the mission of the Walsh team as we enter our 120th year.”

Prior to joining Walsh Brothers, John worked for his entire career at Turner Construction, beginning as a co-op student, working his way through all facets of the business, and most recently serving as the Vice President and General Manager of San Diego and the Active Care Leader for Turner’s Southwest Region. With decades of influence on Boston’s built environment and experience managing over $1B of revenue, John brings to Walsh Brothers experience in a great diversity of product types and service delivery options, a nuanced and collaborative market expansion methodology, and a unique client-centric approach.

John’s commitment to client service has been demonstrated over his career on many notable projects including the MIT Brain and Cognitive Sciences Complex, Fan Pier Development Project including Vertex Pharmaceuticals headquarters, Blue Cross Blue Shield Headquarters, and West End Housing development in Boston. Most recently in San Diego, he oversaw the Manchester Pacific Gateway including the Design-Build Navy GAF Southwest Headquarters, Design-Build FIS for San Diego Airport which nearly tripled processing capacity for international arrivals, and Cal State University at San Marcos Extended Learning facility, the first Design-Build Public/Private partnership in the entire CSU System.

Having spent all but the last four years of his career in Boston, John is happy to return with his family to his deep roots in the community. John is on the board of directors at the Boston Police Activities League and is a facilities board overseer at the Massachusetts Historical Society. He facilitated the first partnership with the Building Pathways Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program and in 2015 led Turner to build a homeless shelter serving 100 people for the City of Boston in just 8 days over the holidays. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University.
