WALTHAM, Mass. — Vantage Builders has donated $35,000 to Fisher House Boston following the company’s fifth annual Vantage Builders fore Charity Golf Classic, bringing the total amount raised for charitable partners through the tournament to more than $155,000.

The commercial contractor announced the donation on September 14. This year’s tournament was held at Franklin Country Club and drew 100 golfers.

It was the second year that the fore Charity Golf Classic has supported Fisher House Boston, an organization that provides free lodging and compassionate support to military families receiving medical care in Boston.

Over the past two years, the tournament’s support has provided military families with more than 390 nights of lodging at no cost to patients or their families, according to Jennifer DeLuca, executive director of Fisher House Boston.

“Fisher House Boston is so grateful for the continued support from Vantage Builders’ fore Charity Golf Classic,” DeLuca said. “The impact of this support is lifechanging.”

DeLuca said the lodging provided through the program allows families to access specialized medical care in Boston that they otherwise may not have been able to receive.

Patriotic opening and special guests

This year’s tournament began with a performance of the national anthem by Todd Angilly, who performs before Boston Bruins home games.

The event’s reception featured several speakers connected to Fisher House Boston and the military community.

Gary Keefe, president of Fisher House Boston, welcomed attendees and provided an update on the organization. Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Ryan Pitts also addressed the gathering, sharing his story of courage and sacrifice during combat operations in Afghanistan.

Betty-Jo O’Brien and her son, Kevin O’Brien, spoke about their experience as one of the first families assisted by Fisher House Boston.

John Connor, principal at Vantage Builders, said the speakers demonstrated the impact of the organization and its work with military families.

“The speakers at this year’s reception really brought home the significant and long-lasting impact that Fisher House Boston has on veterans and their families,” Connor said. “We are proud for the opportunity to support their important work.”
