Boston—The Wilder Companies, the national retail real estate leasing, management and development firm along with joint venture partner, Principal Real Estate Investors, has acquired the 100,000 SF shopping center, Shops at Nod Brook. Formerly named the Nod Brook Mall, the center is located ten miles west of downtown Hartford, in Avon, Ct.
The center’s name change to Shops at Nod Brook is to better reflect the popular anchors, Marshalls and Michaels, the variety of small shop stores, and a recently opened Fresh Market. It is situated on busy Route 44 along Avon’s main retail corridor making it part of a large shopping area that includes Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Home Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ulta, and many more.
Avon, CT is in one of the most highly desirable trade areas in the country. With its neighbors, Canton, Simsbury, and West Hartford, it boasts a very affluent and educated population; within a 10-minute drive of the center the average household income is nearly $160,000 annually and over 63% of people have, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree.
“This is a thriving, well-located shopping center. The addition of The Fresh Market greatly enhanced the center’s draw and retailers are reporting better than ever traffic and sales,” said Wilder principal, David Mallen. “With expansion possibilities enabling us to further augment the merchandise mix this acquisition will no doubt prove to be very successful.”
