BOSTON – The Davis Companies announced that it has hired Mark Smith as Managing Director of Property Management and Operations. Smith will also serve on the firm’s executive committee.
In his new role, Smith will oversee all of the firm’s property management and operational activities and will be involved in every facet of the firm’s existing portfolio, while also overseeing the physical due diligence process for all new firm acquisitions.
Smith comes to TDC with over 35 years of asset management, property management, construction, leasing and investment advisory experience. He has held numerous leadership positions, most recently as the Managing Director of the Eastern US Region for EQ Office (formerly Equity Office Properties), a national office portfolio company wholly owned by Blackstone’s real estate funds. At EQ Office, he designed and executed strategies and business plans to maximize investment performance for 40 million square feet of real estate across a portfolio of 80 properties in New York City, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta, Florida and Columbus, Ohio.
“It’s both a pleasure and honor to have Mark join our executive team. Having worked alongside Mark earlier in his career, I know what an energetic, talented and collaborative professional he is. His proven track record of success managing a broad array of asset classes makes him a great fit for our company. I look forward to having him as a colleague once again” said Rick McCready, President of TDC.
Prior to joining EQ Office, Smith was the President of Winthrop Realty Partners LP in Boston where he was part of the leadership team that grew the organization from three regional offices into a nationally recognized management company with more than 300 employees in nine gateway cities across the United States and a portfolio of 20 million square feet of commercial and retail real estate and over 10,000 units of residential real estate.
Smith has been involved with several professional organizations including the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) and NAIOP. Additionally, he has served on several boards of trustees including Trinity-Pawling School and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School.
Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Psychology from Lake Forest College in Illinois.
Smith succeeds former Managing Director of Property Management and Operations, Larry F. Lenrow, who recently passed away after having been with The Davis Companies since 1999.
