BOSTON— Global construction and development firm Skanska has signed a $250 million (approximately SEK 2.6 billion) contract with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) to carry out significant infrastructure improvements at Logan International Airport’s Terminal E. The new agreement marks a key milestone in Massport’s Terminal E Redevelopment and Consolidation (TERC) Program.

The centerpiece of the project is the construction of a brand-new, multi-level parking garage covering over 725,000 square feet (approximately 67,400 square meters). The structure will provide about 4,000 parking spaces, including designated areas for ground transportation on its lower level, in response to growing travel and traffic demands at Logan.

In addition to the garage, Skanska will construct a vehicular bridge connecting the new facility to the existing central parking structure, as well as a pedestrian bridge that will offer a seamless connection between the garage and Terminal E.

To support Boston’s climate and sustainability goals, the facility will be outfitted with solar photovoltaic (PV) panels to help offset electricity use. The project also aims to earn Parksmart certification, a prestigious sustainability credential for parking structures granted by the Green Building Certification Institute.

Enhancements to surrounding arrival and departure level roadways are also part of the project to ensure improved traffic flow and access.

Construction is set to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with the project expected to be completed by 2030. The upgrade is part of a broader initiative to modernize Logan Airport and improve the passenger experience in one of the region’s busiest travel hubs.

This new contract will be reflected in Skanska’s U.S. order bookings for Q2 2025.
