WALTHAM, MA—Boston Real Estate Times today announced that Jeff Tompkins, IIDA, LEED AP, and Founding Partner at SGA, a Boston and New York-based architecture, interior design, branded environments, planning and virtual design and construction firm, will speak at its annual Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Facilities Summit on Feb. 21, 2020 at Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA.

Upendra Mishra, publisher of Boston Real Estate Times, said that Mr. Tompkins will discuss a new and unique concept of designing life sciences facilities in vertical clusters that are fit for today’s dense and urban environments.

“Clusters as currently defined are costly and take up a lot of horizontal space that is hard to find in tight urban environments like New York, Hong Kong or San Francisco,” says Mr. Tompkins. “The idea of ‘vertical cluster’ solves the problem of the high cost of the land and creates an efficient, state-of-the-art building.”

SGA is dramatically changing this paradigm. With its proven expertise in designing state-of-the-art Life Sciences facilities and eco-systems that foster entrepreneurship among researchers, venture capitalists, biopharmaceuticals, academia, and technology, SGA has joined forces with a committed group of designers, engineers, entrepreneurs, real estate developers and investors who are advancing this evolutionary change in design.

Boston Real Estate Times’s annual Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Facilities Summit will be held from 7:00 am to 10:00 am on Feb. 21, 2020, at Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA.

Mr. Tompkins is one of the Founding Partners of SGA. He balances the strategic direction of the interior design studio in addition to complex repositioning assignments. He works with the team leaders to develop creative yet reasonable solutions that respond to each client’s unique project objectives and expectations relative to aesthetic and programmatic needs.
