NASHVILLE, TN–The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International elected its 2017-2018 officers at the 2017 BOMA International Conference & Expo in Nashville.

Robert Brierley, Managing Director and EVP for Colliers International Boston, was elected as Chair and CEO of BOMA International.  BOMA International is a federation of 90 BOMA U.S. associations and 18 international affiliates that represent the owners and managers of all commercial property types including 10.5 billion square feet of U.S. office space that supports 1.7 million jobs and contributes $234.9 billion to the U.S. GDP.) Robert is the first Bostonian to hold this position.

The Board of Governors of BOMA International elected:

  • Robert M. Brierley, BOMA Fellow, Managing Director of Real Estate Management Services and Executive Vice President of Colliers Boston, Boston, as Chair and Chief Elected Officer for 2017-2018;
  • Brian D. Cappelli, BOMA Fellow, RPA, Vice President of Asset Management, Global X Properties, Cleveland, as Chair-Elect;
  • Scott O. Jones, Vice President, Jacobs, San Francisco, as Vice Chair; and
  • Keith Major, Executive Vice President, Real Estate Services, Bentall Kennedy (Canada) LP, Toronto, as Secretary/Treasurer.

Rob Brierley has nearly 30 years of wide-ranging experience in the commercial real estate industry. He currently serves as managing director of Real Estate Management Services and executive vice president of Colliers Boston. As a two-term past president of BOMA/Boston, Brierley also is a member of BOMA/Boston’s Board of Directors. He also served two consecutive terms on the BOMA International Executive Committee and as Chair of the BOMA 360 Performance Program® Council before becoming an officer of BOMA International in 2015, serving first as Vice Chair, then as Chair-Elect. Brierley also chaired the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. In 2012, he was named a BOMA Fellow in the inaugural class of the program.

Brian Cappelli has more than two decades of experience in the commercial real estate industry, including roles at publicly traded REITs and private real estate investment firms focused on office, retail and mixed-use properties. He is currently vice president of Asset Management at Global X Properties, a firm focused on repurposing real estate assets through transformative projects across the United States.  He served two terms as president of BOMA/Greater Cleveland and for four years on BOMA Ohio’s Board of Governors. He also has served on numerous BOMA International committees, including the Asset Management Council, the Energy and Environment Committee and the Executive Committee.

Scott Jones currently serves as vice president for Jacobs. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Jones was an active member of BOMA/Fort Worth, where he served as president. Jones was chair of both BOMA International’s State Government Affairs Committee and the Careers in Real Estate Task Force Returning Veterans Outreach Sub-Group. He also has served two terms on the BOMA International Executive Committee, and held the position of vice chair of the Research Committee.

Keith Major is executive vice president of Real Estate Services with Bentall Kennedy (Canada) LP in Toronto. Major is part of the senior leadership team for Bentall Kennedy and is currently responsible for the property management, operations, leasing and development activities undertaken by the company for their Canadian office and industrial portfolio. He served on the BOMA International Executive Committee for four years, and he currently serves as vice chair of the International Council. Major is an active participant in BOMA Canada’s National Advisory Council and regularly participates in various BOMA Toronto advocacy efforts with specific emphasis on energy and taxes.
