MILWAUKEE — Hammes has named Patrick Hammes chief executive officer of the healthcare-focused real estate platform, marking the next step in the company’s long-term leadership succession plan.
Jon Hammes, who previously served as chairman and CEO, will remain chairman of Hammes. The transition is designed to provide continuity and support the firm’s continued growth across its healthcare real estate businesses.
As CEO, Patrick Hammes will oversee the firm’s integrated platform spanning real estate consulting, development, investment and management, with a focus on healthcare.
The leadership structures of the company’s affiliated businesses — Hammes Healthcare, Hammes Realty Services and Hammes Partners — will remain unchanged. The company said the structure is intended to ensure continuity for clients, investors, tenants and other partners.
From Investment Banking to Healthcare Real Estate
Patrick Hammes joined the company in 2012, helping prepare and launch Hammes Partners, the firm’s institutional investment platform. He and Jon Hammes continue to serve as managing principals and investment committee members of Hammes Partners.
Before joining Hammes, Patrick was a member of the Business Services and Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Robert W. Baird & Co. He previously practiced law at a large firm in Dallas, Texas, and worked in the General Counsel’s Office of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C.
Jon Hammes said Patrick’s appointment reflects the company’s confidence in his leadership and strategic capabilities.
“Formalizing Patrick’s role as CEO underscores the confidence we have in his leadership and his strategic acumen,” Jon Hammes said. “This transition is a natural evolution that supports our growth, upholds our fiduciary commitment to investors, and maintains continuity for our clients, tenants and partners.”
Building on a 35-Year Foundation
Hammes was founded in 1991 and has grown into a vertically integrated real estate platform specializing in healthcare. Its services include healthcare real estate strategy and planning, project management, development, investment and property management.
Patrick Hammes described the leadership transition as an evolution of a platform established by his father 35 years ago rather than a change in the company’s fundamental strategy.
“This transition reflects the strength of the platform my father established 35 years ago,” Patrick Hammes said. “While my title has evolved, our strategy remains the same, leveraging our fully integrated capabilities to deliver long-term value for our healthcare clients and institutional partners.”
He added that the company’s established leadership teams across its businesses position Hammes to build on its existing momentum while maintaining its focus on healthcare real estate.
Headquartered in Milwaukee, Hammes operates through a network of regional offices across the United States.
The company has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading healthcare developers by Modern Healthcare’s Construction & Design Survey for 28 consecutive years, including 22 years ranked No. 1, according to the company. It has also been recognized by Revista’s Outpatient Healthcare Real Estate Development Report.
The CEO transition leaves the leadership of Hammes’ individual operating businesses intact while placing Patrick Hammes in overall leadership of the broader platform.
The company said the planned transition is intended to preserve the firm’s integrated approach to healthcare real estate while positioning it for continued long-term growth.
