STAMFORD, Conn. — Newmark’s Stamford office has established a new strategic program with the University of Connecticut designed to direct a portion of fees generated through the commercial real estate firm’s services toward UConn programs and student-athletes.
Under the initiative, UConn-affiliated companies and clients working with Newmark can allocate a portion of transaction- or advisory-related fees to support UConn Athletics, academic and research initiatives, or the university’s general endowment. The program creates a direct connection between commercial real estate activity and funding for university priorities.
“We look forward to working with companies, investors, and real estate owners to support and invest in Connecticut’s flagship university,” said James Ritman, executive vice president and managing director at Newmark. “Newmark is proud to donate a portion of revenue on these transactions back to UConn in support of its programs.”
Newmark has maintained a presence in Connecticut since opening its state office in 1993. The firm has advised on corporate headquarters transactions, real estate investments and other commercial projects throughout the state, including work involving Fortune 500 companies.
The company said the new collaboration builds on its longstanding involvement in Connecticut and its commitment to contributing to the state’s economic and institutional development.
“This program with Newmark is an exciting new opportunity that speaks to their dedication to making a real difference,” said Jason Butikofer, chief operating officer at UConn. “Knowing that businesses engaging Newmark’s real estate services can direct a portion of those proceeds to UConn Athletics is truly meaningful, and we are excited about the impact this program can have for our student-athletes and programs.”
The initiative provides participating businesses with an additional way to direct a portion of their real estate-related transactions toward UConn, with potential support extending beyond athletics to the university’s academic, research and endowment priorities.
