Marcus Partners Names Ryan McDonough and Patrick Sousa as Co-CIO and Chief of Staff Respectively

BOSTON – Marcus Partnersa real estate investment, management and development firm, announced the elevation of two principals to key leadership positions at the firm.

Ryan McDonough is now Co-Chief Investment Officer, and Patrick Sousa is now Principal, Development and Chief of Staff. McDonough joins Bill McAvoy in leading the company’s investing efforts and focuses on the Greater Boston market, while McAvoy concentrates on Metro Washington, D.C. and New York

Sousa adds company-wide management and strategy responsibilities to his leadership responsibilities as a Principal on Marcus Partners’ Development team.

McDonough came to Marcus Partners from Bentall Kennedy in 2017. Since joining, he has led many of the firm’s efforts across multifamily, medical office, and industrial acquisitions, including having built out an industrial portfolio now comprising more than 2.5 million square feet and 13 properties. Together McDonough and McAvoy bring nearly 60 years of experiences to their work and complementary skill sets to the firm.

Sousa was previously a Development Director at Skanska USA Commercial Development. For Marcus, he is leading significant ground-up development including the 251,000 square foot life science campus at Parcels O and P in the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park in the South Boston Waterfront neighborhood. In his new position as Chief of Staff, Sousa plays a lead role with Paul Marcus in setting firm-wide vision, advancing thought leadership and investment strategy along with a variety of strategic initiatives. He also works closely with Paul on day-to-day oversight of the company’s business operations.
