BOSTON–Eight Boston architecture firms have made the list of Top 50 Architecture Firms in the United States, with Boston-based William Rawn Associates ranked as number three.

The list of the Top 50 Architecture firm for 2018 was compiled by Architect Magazine.

“This year’s installment of the Architect 50 is a testament to the program’s staying power and momentum. The depth and talent of the participating firms—160 completed submissions—was unparalleled,” said Architect Magazine in the accompanying article. “As always, we calculated scores in three categories (business, sustainability, and design) and added them together to create an overall ranking. This year, the biggest change came in how we calculated the sustainability ranking.”

The magazine said that the list featured a nice mix of small boutique firms and giant multinationals, repeat winners and new practices that scaled the charts.

Here is how Boston architecture firms are ranked:

William Rawn Associates (#3)
Touloukian Touloukian (#8)
Payette (#16)
Leers Weinzapfel Associates (#35)
Bruner/Cott Architects (#36)
Sasaki (#39)
CBT Architects (#41)
Ann Beha Architects (#44)
