The company has appointed Tino Popescu as Chief Clinical Operations Officer and Samantha Spino as Chief Accounting Officer, marking a significant step forward in Maplewood’s strategic focus on delivering exceptional care and robust financial stewardship.

Tino Popescu

Tino Popescu Named Chief Clinical Operations Officer

With over a decade of experience at Maplewood and Inspīr, Tino Popescu, MSN, APRN, A-GNP-C, has been promoted to a newly created role as Chief Clinical Operations Officer. Based in Monroe, Connecticut, Popescu has long been a driving force behind Maplewood’s clinical innovation and care delivery.

“Tino has been instrumental in elevating our clinical practices and advancing technologies that directly benefit residents and caregivers,” said Shane Herlet, Co-CEO of Maplewood Senior Living and Inspīr. “His leadership has improved both safety and quality of life across our communities.”

Popescu has spearheaded initiatives such as:

Known for building strong, empowered care teams, Popescu’s promotion signals Maplewood’s ongoing investment in centralized clinical excellence and resident-focused innovation.

Samantha Spino Named Chief Accounting Officer

Also based in Monroe, CT, Samantha Spino brings deep financial expertise and years of collaboration with Maplewood to her new role as Chief Accounting Officer. Having served as a trusted financial consultant to the organization since 2019, Spino has already led several transformative financial initiatives.

She was the architect behind the successful rollout of Vena, Maplewood’s AI-powered, cloud-based financial planning and intelligence platform. This shift has enabled:

  • Real-time financial insights
  • Stronger data governance and reporting accuracy
  • Streamlined, collaborative planning processes across the organization

As CAO, Spino will now oversee Maplewood’s accounting, reporting, compliance, audit, and financial strategy functions, ensuring the company maintains a strong fiscal foundation to support its long-term vision.

“Sam brings a unique blend of financial discipline and collaborative leadership to our executive team,” said Herlet. “Her impact has been profound, and she will continue to play a key role in our strategic planning and financial strength.”

A Vision for the Future of Senior Living

These leadership promotions come as Maplewood Senior Living continues to redefine excellence in senior care through technology integration, innovative wellness programs, and high-quality service.

“These appointments reflect both the depth of talent within our organization and our commitment to redefining what senior living can be,” added Herlet. “Tino and Sam have each played a transformative role in shaping our future, and I am confident their leadership will drive meaningful impact for our residents, families, and teams.”

With Popescu and Spino in key executive roles, Maplewood is well-positioned to advance its mission of delivering best-in-class care while expanding its presence in the senior living market.
