John Butterworth Joins Colliers as Managing Director and Head of Urban Leasing

BOSTON– Colliers announced that it has recruited real estate industry leader John Butterworth to join the firm as Managing Director and Head of Urban Leasing in the Boston office.
Butterworth brings more than 20 years of experience to his new position and has spent the last 15 years with CBRE/New England serving as Executive Vice President/Partner with the Urban Advisory & Transaction Services team.
“I would be remiss if I did not recognize and thank my former partners and colleagues at CBRE/New England; it was a wonderful run,” Butterworth said. “With that said, I am excited to start this new chapter of my career and having the opportunity to lead a team at Colliers where there is so much positive momentum certainly adds to that excitement. I am invigorated by the firm’s leadership, culture, and existing talent and look forward to bringing continued best-in-class service to my clients.”
Colliers has experienced considerable success in attracting top-tier talent over the last year or so, with Butterworth representing the fifth highly strategic advisor hire since the recruitment of former JLL leader Frank Petz near the end of 2019. All other hires – including former CBRE advisors Matt Siciliano and Matthew Furey, and Cushman & Wakefield leader Kevin Hanna – joined amid the COVID-19 pandemic, only further highlighting the organization’s undeterred growth trajectory.
“I am thrilled that we have been able to attract such great talent to Colliers over the past year or so. John is an impact player, not only across the Boston real estate landscape, but across the City of Boston at large,” said David Goodhue, who stepped into the role of Executive Managing Director and Brokerage Market Leader for Colliers Boston two years ago. “John’s dedication to his clients is truly second-to-none. I couldn’t be more excited about the contributions he will make to the company as we continue to find more and more ways to support our clients.”
A community-minded individual and Providence College alumnus, Butterworth is actively involved in the school’s President’s Counsel as well as the Men’s Hockey Vision Committee. Additionally, he serves as an active board member for The Village Bank, Baystate Charitable Foundation, the Travis Roy Foundation, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, and formerly for Rosie’s Place.
