New identity reflects more than 40 years of design leadership, broader service offerings and a vision centered on how design shapes people, culture and communities.

BOSTON— IA Interior Architects, a global design firm with more than four decades of experience shaping workplaces and other environments, has rebranded as IA, reflecting the company’s expanded capabilities, diversified practice areas and evolving approach to design.

The name change marks a strategic step in the firm’s development as it broadens its services to address the changing needs of clients and the industries it serves. Alongside the new name, IA is introducing a refreshed brand identity built around the concept “Design That Moves.”

The company said the evolution reflects years of deliberate investment in new capabilities and expertise, particularly over the past decade, as its work has expanded beyond its roots in interior architecture.

“For more than four decades, IA has shaped the way people experience work, place, and community,” said Tom Powers and David Bourke, the firm’s co-presidents and co-CEOs, in a joint message announcing the change.

They described the rebrand as a reflection of the company’s growth from a pioneering interiors practice into a global design firm with broader expertise and an expanded perspective on what design can accomplish.

“Moving forward, IA Interior Architects will be known simply as IA,” the executives said.

At the center of the new brand is the philosophy “Design That Moves,” which emphasizes the impact of design beyond the physical spaces themselves. According to the firm, the concept reflects its belief that thoughtfully designed environments can influence how people interact, work, connect and experience their surroundings.

The philosophy also recognizes that design must evolve alongside changes in culture, human behavior and client expectations. Rather than focusing exclusively on the creation of spaces, IA’s positioning highlights the experiences and possibilities those spaces can enable.

The rebrand follows a decade of investment in expanded services and specialized expertise, as the firm responds to increasingly diverse client requirements. IA said its evolution has been shaped by its employees, clients and the changing industries in which it operates.

While the new name simplifies the company’s identity, the firm intends to build on its established design heritage while communicating a broader vision for its future.

The transition also reflects a wider emphasis on integrated design capabilities, with IA positioning itself to address a more expansive range of challenges involving workplaces, places and communities.

Powers and Bourke said the refreshed identity represents both the company IA has become and the direction it intends to pursue in the years ahead.

The firm has not detailed specific operational changes associated with the rebrand, but its announcement emphasizes continuity in its longstanding commitment to design innovation and improving people’s lives.
