MEDFORD, Mass.– Vayu Global Health Foundation has moved its base of operations from Cambridge to Medford, MA. The growing healthcare nonprofit expanded last month to a 2,500-square-foot facility at Cummings Properties’ Boston Avenue innovation campus.
Founded in 2018, Vayu aims to facilitate global healthcare though the development and implementation of sustainable solutions to common health challenges. Its team partners with governments and healthcare organizations worldwide to deliver research-based treatment systems and related training to clinicians in under-resourced areas.
Vayu’s current program, “Breathing for Babies,” seeks to curb child mortality by integrating a low-cost pediatric oxygen delivery system in healthcare systems across the globe.
Senior Leasing Director Rob Yacobian, of Cummings Properties, worked directly with Vayu executive director Stephanie Hansel and co-founder Dr. Thomas Burke on the lease. The nonprofit has quickly increased its workforce from a just a few full-time colleagues to an office of more than 12, according to Yacobian.
“Vayu is at a pivotal stage in its growth cycle,” said Yacobian. “The team needed a suitable space and a real estate provider capable of supporting the organization’s continued evolution. Cummings Properties can reliably deliver.”
According to Yacobian, Vayu was also attracted to the Medford campus’ proximity to area conveniences. In addition to having free on-site covered parking and highway access, 196 Boston Avenue is within walking distance of MBTA public transit as well as numerous eateries, shops, and other amenities
Vayu Global Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports efforts to identify and build sustainable solutions to intractable health challenges. Vayu collaborates with international partners as well as thought leaders and faculty from Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Massachusetts General Hospital to incubate quality cost-efficient healthcare solutions that can be delivered at scale.
