WALTHAM, Mass. – Laurie Gerber, wife of the late EPOCH Senior Living Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Laurence (Larry) Gerber, has been named the company’s Chairperson.

Laurie will work alongside the EPOCH management team to carry on the legacy of Larry by enriching the lives of seniors every day.

Larry founded the company in 1997. Under his leadership, the company grew significantly to include five Waterstone Senior Living communities and 11 Bridges® by EPOCH memory care assisted living communities located throughout the Northeast. Larry tragically died on March 25 at the age of 66.

Laurie is an accomplished executive with over two decades of experience as a business leader. She has a strong reputation of being a collaborative thinker and building teams by working closely with all constituencies, including clients, business partners, leadership teams, and employees. Prior to her new role at EPOCH, she served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm, the Chief Financial Officer of a healthcare REIT, and a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, an accounting firm.

Laurie has followed EPOCH’s growth over the years, sharing in her husband’s philosophy and taking pride in the company he built. She was a strong support to him during the challenges of the pandemic and by his bedside during his recent illness.

“Knowing what he wanted to do, how he wanted to do it, and what his philosophy was about the company – making EPOCH a great place for residents to thrive, a wonderful place to work, and making sure the employees were treated well – are all things that I want to continue in honor of my husband and his legacy,” Laurie said. “I am learning a lot more about the company with the help of a very experienced management team that is doing an outstanding job.”

Laurie recently visited all the EPOCH communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and New York, spending time with the team members and residents to further understand what makes EPOCH Senior Living the premier provider of senior living services in the markets it serves. “Larry built a great team, and I will continue to support them and their abilities.”  Like Larry, “I will work with the management teams to ensure our employees are able to grow and be successful in their careers and that they are afforded advancement opportunities within the company,” Laurie said.

“Our entire team truly appreciated Laurie Gerber’s visit to Waterstone at the Circle,” said Kevin Defayette, Executive Director at EPOCH Senior Living. “Her warmth, kindness and passion for Larry’s legacy was evident. We look forward to all working together to continue the mission and vision that Larry set for our organization.”

Waterstone at the Circle is an independent living community located at the foot of Chestnut Hill in Boston. EPOCH also operates four other Waterstone communities in Lexington, MA; Wellesley, MA; Stamford, CT; and White Plains, NY. The 11 Bridges® by EPOCH communities are in Norwalk and Trumbull, Connecticut; Andover, Hingham, Lexington, Mashpee, Pembroke, Sudbury, Westford and Westwood, Massachusetts; and Nashua, New Hampshire.
