Hartford, CT– CBRE announced that it has been retained by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as its exclusive advisor in the disposition of its Hartford campus.

The 12.69-acre site formerly housed a graduate center for working professionals pursuing advanced education and includes an eight-story classroom building and amphitheater, as well as a four-story parking garage structure and surface parking together offering more than 860 spaces.275 Windsor Street is being marketed as a premier mixed-use redevelopment opportunity in Hartford’s Downtown North neighborhood. It is the largest available site in the City of Hartford at approximately 13 acres, the equivalent of two New York City blocks. Its location immediately adjacent to the award-winning Dunkin’ Donuts Park, along with a flexible MX-2 Zoning with Campus Overlay designation, existing parking garage and the availability of on-site utilities, make it a very attractive opportunity. The increased demand for multifamily and dynamic retail in downtown Hartford, combined with the site’s superior access to the interstate and the Hartford CBD, perfectly positions the site for redevelopment, allowing potential buyers to capitalize on the already substantial amount of investment and momentum in Downtown North. This unique site is being marketed for sale without a formal asking price.  “We are very excited about this opportunity and believe there will be significant interest from both developers and end users due to the site’s excellent location next to Dunkin’ Donuts Park, immediate highway accessibility and strong demand for multifamily and retail amenities in the Hartford market,” remarked John McCormick and Anna Kocsondy of CBRE’s Hartford office. “275 Windsor Street is a Hartford Landmark and its long-time history as a former educational campus lends additional viability to the offering.”Dr. Aric Krause, Rensselaer’s Dean of Academic and Administrative Affairs commented, “Rensselaer has proudly been a part of the greater Hartford community for nearly 68 years. Over the past five years, we have reengineered our Hartford program to provide certificates and graduate degrees online, better serving employers with professionals all over the country and world. With the sale of our building, we look forward to finding a new physical Hartford location that is better aligned to our current needs.”
