New position will play an integral role in setting firm-wide investment strategy

BOSTON- The Davis Companies (TDC) announces that Carlos Ortea has joined the firm as Director of Research. In this newly created position for TDC, Ortea will work closely with the firm’s Acquisitions, Asset Management, and Development teams in creating and implementing research tactics and framing investment strategy.

Ortea has had more than 10 years of experience in research and implementation roles, engaging in the investment decision-making process by developing data-driven tools to guide targeted investment strategy, risk assessments and portfolio analysis for global equity funds. In his new role at TDC, Ortea will play a key role in informing the firm’s investment and development activities while also advising on the portfolio management and sales strategy for the company’s portfolio.

Prior to joining TDC, Ortea served as Head of Real Estate Investment Research-Americas at Aberdeen Standard Investments in Boston. He previously worked as Vice President, Research for Bentall Kennedy in Boston, as Assistant Vice President, Investment Research for PGIM Real Estate in Madison, New Jersey, and as a Real Estate Economist at CoStar Portfolio Strategy in Boston.

Ortea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, summa cum laude, from Florida State University and a Master’s degree in Economics from Boston University. He also has earned certification in Commercial Real Estate Analysis and Investment at the MIT School of Architecture and Planning.
