WALTHAM, MA—Boston Real Estate Times, the area’s premier source of commercial real estate news, announced that it will hold its 11th annual Senior Housing Summit on Sept. 16, and will honor Senior Living Residences CEO Robert Larkin for his outstanding contributions to the industry.

“We’re very grateful that Mr. Larkin has agreed to accept the honor from the Boston Real Estate Times and our readers,” said Upendra Mishra, Publisher of the Boston Real Estate Times. “Mr. Larkin is credited with developing one of the first assisted living communities in Massachusetts and shape the industry, and we’re excited to honor him.”

The 11th Senior Housing Summit is organized by the Boston Real Estate Times, which has hosted this summit for the last 11 years. Mr. Larkin has been a featured speaker at many previous senior living summits.

The Sept. 16th summit will be held virtually due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19. The event will start on Zoom at 9:30 AM, and will include the honoring ceremony for Mr. Larkin, followed by a panel discussion. The names of the panelists will be announced soon.

Mr. Mishra said that the summit will focus on challenges and opportunities face by the Senior and Assisted Living industry in the face of the current pandemic, including rising healthcare costs, an ageing population, increased longevity and the state of demand for senior living facilities.

“We have assembled a team of industry veterans who will touch upon on the topics relevant to the senior living in New England: from debt-to-equity financing and from development to management challenges,” said Mr. Mishra.

Other topics include: How does 2021 and beyond look like for assisted living, senior housing and health rehabilitation centers in the context of the current pandemic? Despite the demand, why has occupancy fell or remained flat and why have construction starts been lower than expected in recent years? How has COVID-19 affected the industry and what should the industry do to deal with future pandemics?
