Burlington, MA–Trapani Architects in partnership with NELCO Worldwide recently completed the design and construction associated with the installation of a new ViewRay MRIdian, an MRI Linear Accelerator, at the Enloe Regional Cancer Center in Chico, CA.
Enloe Medical Center is a 298-bed nonprofit hospital with the mission of improving the quality of life through patient-centered care. Enloe Regional Cancer Care Center is part of the many state-of-the-art facilities that provide comprehensive medical services including cardiac surgery and heart care, neurosurgery, orthopedics, total joint replacement, maternity care, women’s services, and bariatrics as well as cancer care. Enloe Medical Center serves patients and community members throughout Butte County and California’s North State.
Working closely with Enloe’s design standards, the Trapani architecture and interior design team delivered a 24,00 SF contemporary, patient-centered facility. In addition to the vault renovation, the program includes an equipment room, control room, physics treatment and planning office. A new gas generator for backup power as well as a new electrical room were also added. The state-of-the-art MRIdian Linear Accelerator at Enloe is only the third of its kind installed in California and one of fewer than 20 MRI Linacs in the country. NELCO Worldwide led the design-build contractor team and furnished and installed the Guardian Swing Door System. CMTA, Inc. was the mechanical, electrical and plumbing consulting engineers. KPFF Engineers was the structural engineer.
“This project is so important to our patients and our cancer care team that cares for them,” said Bill Seguine, Director of Property Development and Facilities Management at Enloe Medical Center, “We appreciate all that the Trapani/NELCO team did to keep the vault renovation and the ancillary facilities on track. Their work enables us to continue to serve our patients with the best equipment and technology available in the market today.”
