WOBURN, Mass. – Covaris, a technology firm that specializes in manufacturing scientific devices, has expanded its footprint to occupy the entire building at 14 Gill St. in Woburn. The company, which has been located in Woburn since being established in 1999, added 10,000 SF.
Covaris provides tools and technologies to improve pre-analytical sample preparation, enable novel drug formulations, and manage compounds in the drug discovery process. Among its partners are life sciences leaders such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Ginkgo Bioworks. The global firm also has an office in England to serve Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Covaris will move into its new space at the end of September.
“Cummings has been with us since the early years, when we needed only a few thousand square feet, and it has accommodated our growth every step of the way,” said Jim Laugharn, founder and CEO of Covaris. “The excellent leasing rates compared with those in the city, plus the proximity to I-95 and I-93, have kept us in Woburn all these years.”
Cummings senior account manager Eric Lawless worked directly with Covaris on this expansion.
“Cummings has a long history of working with early-stage firms and accommodating their facilities needs as they develop,” Lawless said. “It’s been exciting to witness Covaris’ success over a couple of decades. We’re proud to have it among the diverse technology and life sciences firms in our Woburn portfolio.”
