BOSTON– Sullivan & Worcester announced that Ashley H. Brooks, a partner and co-leader of the firm’s real estate practice group, has been selected to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s 2018 “Top Women of Law.”
The “Top Women of Law” is a prestigious honor recognizing exceptional lawyers who “have made tremendous professional strides and demonstrated great accomplishments in the legal field, which includes pro bono, social justice, advocacy and business.”
“This award is recognition of Ashley’s commitment, leadership and influence within her practice group, at the firm, and in her community,” said Joel Carpenter, managing partner of Sullivan & Worcester. “The level of professionalism and passion she brings to her work at all levels is impressive and makes her clearly deserving of this award.”
Ms. Brooks’ practice focuses on all aspects of transactional commercial real estate law, including debt financing, equity investment, development, acquisitions and dispositions representing institutions and public and private companies across all asset classes.
She was recognized not only for her strong commercial real estate practice, but also for her leadership in the legal industry and in social justice reform. The issue of affordable housing is a priority for Ms. Brooks and she has spent decades working with organizations to find solutions. In addition to holding a variety of positions at Heading Home, an organization that provides emergency, transitional and permanent housing and support services to homeless families and individuals in the Boston area, she is a trustee of Lawrence Model Lodging House Trust and is spearheading a pro bono project with InspireDC Affordable Housing Coalition to help develop vacant properties owned by the Methodist church in Washington DC as affordable housing.
Ms. Brooks and the other award recipients will be honored for their outstanding accomplishments at the “Top Women of Law” awards ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, October 18, at the Marriott Copley Place Hotel.
