REVERE, Mass.—The redevelopment of Suffolk Downs notched another milestone Thursday with the opening of The Point Barre & Yoga, the second retail tenant to debut at the emerging Beachmont Square district.
The ribbon-cutting—hosted by The HYM Investment Group, National Real Estate Advisors, and the City of Revere—marks the latest step in the multiyear transformation of the former racetrack.
The Point, a woman-owned yoga and barre studio founded in 2017 by Angela D’Amore and Jessica Drake, expands to Revere after establishing its first location in East Boston. The studio occupies ground-floor space at Amaya, the 475-unit residential building anchoring the first phase of the mixed-use redevelopment.
The new Suffolk Downs studio, located at 56 Salt Street, offers infrared and room-temperature yoga, barre and Pilates classes, dance cardio, and “mommy & me” programming. The business is also launching a Suffolk Downs Run Club and partnering with the nonprofit NamaStay Sober to host weekly wellness sessions.
“From the beginning, our mission at The Point has been to create a space where people feel seen, supported and connected,” the co-owners said in a joint statement. “Expanding to Suffolk Downs allows us to welcome even more members of the community into a studio that nurtures both strength and stillness.”
The opening follows the October debut of Twisted Fate Brewery, which became the development’s first retail tenant. HYM CEO Thomas N. O’Brien said the latest addition reflects the project’s strategy of drawing local operators into the multibillion-dollar redevelopment.
“As a local, woman-owned business founded in East Boston, The Point has a deep connection to this community,” O’Brien said. “With this opening, The Point adds to the growing list of vibrant destinations for residents and visitors to enjoy in Beachmont Square.”
Revere Mayor Patrick Keefe said the expansion underscores the city’s effort to attract neighborhood-scale businesses to the area. “We’re grateful to see local, woman-owned businesses choosing to plant roots in Revere, and we look forward to the impact The Point will have on residents and visitors alike,” he said.
BLACKLINE Retail Group is overseeing leasing efforts for the first phase of Beachmont Square, which includes more than 24,000 square feet of retail at Amaya. Eight retail tenants are expected to open in the initial rollout.
Situated steps from the MBTA Blue Line and within walking distance of Revere Beach, the 1.7-million-square-foot Beachmont Square project includes public gathering spaces such as The Yard @ Beachmont Square, The Track at Suffolk Downs, and The Stage at Suffolk, which hosts concerts and community events.
