SIOR New England and NAIOP Host Annual Market Forecast

BOSTON – SIOR New England Chapter, Inc., a professional affiliate of the National Association of Realtors, and NAIOP Massachusetts, the leading organization for developers, owners, and commercial real estate professionals, recently hosted an Annual Market Forecast at the Hyatt Regency in Boston, MA.

SIOR Fernanda-SizedWelcoming over 350 guests, the event provided valuable information highlighting the regional real estate market’s growth throughout the past year, its current state, and outlook for 2016.

Barry Bluestone, Director of the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy, kicked-off the presentation with an extensive analysis of the current state of the economy and real estate conditions in the Greater Boston area. Additionally, Frank Petz, Managing Director at JLL, stated that office transactions in 2015 have surpassed the $8 billion projection from 2014. Bluestone and Petz were joined by Curtis Cole, Senior Vice President and Partner at CBRE|New England, Vicki Keenan, Senior Vice President at Transwestern|RBJ, Dave Martel, Executive Managing Director at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF), and Austin Smith, Senior Vice President at Colliers International, on the esteemed panel.

Notably, the program also included an awards ceremony by SIOR New England and the MIT Center for Real Estate, which honored Fernanda Sanchez Attolini with the first inaugural “Scholarship for Real Estate Excellence”. Attolini received the $5,000 grant, which is jointly-funded by the SIOR New England Chapter and SIOR Foundation. The award has been established to recognize a current MIT Center for Real Estate student who demonstrates excellence and possesses attributes consistent with SIOR’s mission to promote initiatives that expand, educate, and enhance the overall commercial real estate community.

“The SIOR and NAIOP Annual Market Forecast is a premier event in Boston’s real estate industry, which is evidenced by the significant number of attendees and all-star panel,” commented Don Mancini, President of SIOR New England. “While receiving important

insight highlighting current and future conditions from our esteemed speakers, it is also important to recognize the next generation of real estate professionals like Fernanda. I was proud to collaborate with the MIT Center for Real Estate to present her with this award, and am confident that she will continue to serve as a committed and thoughtful leader throughout her career.”

Previously, Attolini worked with Fundación ProED, a non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of education in Mexico. During this time, she helped to raise over $300,000 and organized a team of real estate colleagues and business partners for the design and construction of two school libraries in low-income neighborhoods.
