SGA President and Founding Partner Al Spagnolo Elected to Board of Trustees of Wentworth Institute of Technology

BOSTON— SGA announced that the firm’s president and founding partner, Al Spagnolo, AIA, NCARB, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Wentworth Institute of Technology.

“I received a great education at WIT, and I am delighted to join the Board of Trustees of this prestigious institution, which has played a very important role in my architecture and design career. I am looking forward to working with other board members to uphold Wentworth’s mission and strategy for the future.”

SGA is a national, award-winning firm based in New York City and Boston.

With more than 45 years of architectural and planning experience, Spagnolo is responsible for leading SGA’s design commissions. The firm’s highly regarded portfolio reflects his ability to balance design excellence with pragmatism. Under his leadership, SGA won Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies” award for architecture in 2018 and 2021.

Spagnolo serves as the partner in charge for complex commissions in the academic, life sciences, commercial and urban/mixed-use markets.

He received an Associate Degree in Architecture from Wentworth and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Ohio State University. He is among several Wentworth alumni who serve on the board of trustees.

A registered architect in 18 states, Spagnolo is an active member of several professional organizations in his field, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), BSA, NCARB, the National Organization of Minority Architects, and the Urban Land Institute. He is a lifetime member of the Alpha Rho Chi professional fraternity, and vice-chair of the AIA Project Delivery Knowledge Community.

A guest lecturer at Wentworth and Boston Architectural College, as well as a regular speaker at national real estate forums, Spagnolo volunteers at Massachusetts General Hospital and supports community organizations such as Building Impact.

Along with Spagnolo, other newly elected board members are: Rose Conti, director of interiors/special projects for Lee Kennedy Co; Kathleen MacNeil, principal at MP Boston; Travis McCready, executive director and national practice leader for Jones Lang Lasalle’s Life Sciences Industry Practice; Kenneth Turner, president and CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center.
