BOSTON–Walsh Brothers announced that Paula Buick, RN, MBA is joining the company as a Project Executive. Paula’s unique knowledge and firsthand experience will provide valuable insight into the construction and renovation of critical research and health care environments.

After becoming a Registered Nurse in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Paula moved to Boston and spent 25 years at Massachusetts General Hospital, first as an Intensive Care Unit nurse and then as a Senior Project Manager in Mass General Brigham’s Real Estate and Facilities Department. Paula has delivered multiple successful research and health system projects for prestigious institutions including Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School, as well as for award winning architectural firms such as Payette and NBBJ. Paula works with academic medical centers, hospitals, and universities, emphasizing capital and operational sustainability, staff working environment, and the importance of teamwork and a sense of humor.
Over her career Paula has received multiple honors and awards, has been published in Architecture Boston and Contract Magazine, and has been an invited expert to speak on topics including transitional research, integrated planning, Department of Defense health affairs, and transformative medicine. She is also a member of the FGI Guidelines Steering Committee on Emergency Conditions, New England Healthcare Engineers Society (NEHES, ASHE), and the New England Society Healthcare Strategy (NESHS).
