NEEDHAM, Mass. — One Wingate East, a new independent living community from Wingate Living and nonprofit Ginger Care Living Inc., has officially opened in Needham, welcoming its first residents and adding 61 new residences to the town’s senior living landscape.

The boutique-style community is located on Wingate Living’s established Needham campus and offers one-, two- and three-bedroom residences designed for independent seniors seeking a residential experience with a range of amenities, wellness programs and social opportunities.

Additional residents are expected to move into the community over the coming weeks as One Wingate East begins building its resident community.

“Welcoming our first residents to One Wingate East is an incredibly exciting milestone for our team,” said Alexandra Schuster, president of Wingate Living. “There is something special about seeing a community we have envisioned for years come to life and watching residents begin to make it their own. We’re thrilled to welcome our first residents home and look forward to growing the community.”

The opening represents another investment by Wingate Living, a family-run organization offering a continuum of senior living services, in its Needham campus and its approach to senior housing centered on independence, wellness and social connection.

Designed as a Boutique Senior Living Community

One Wingate East features dozens of floor plans, with residences incorporating details such as Juliet balconies and French doors.

The community’s amenities are designed to encourage residents to remain active and engaged while providing spaces for socializing, recreation and creative pursuits.

Among the amenities are a rooftop lounge and grille, golf simulator, makers’ art workshop, yoga and spin studios, and a library.

The community also offers multiple dining experiences, including a bistro bar with personal wine lockers.

The range of amenities reflects a growing emphasis in senior living on creating residential environments that combine independence with opportunities for connection, wellness and recreation.

Partnership With Ginger Care Living

One Wingate East is being developed in partnership with Ginger Care Living Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization established to acquire, own and operate senior housing communities.

Richard (Rick) Feldman, chairman of the Ginger Care Living Board, said the organization welcomed Wingate Living’s expertise and partnership in managing the new community.

“We commend Wingate Living and its team on the successful completion of One Wingate East,” Feldman said. “We are pleased to welcome their expertise and partnership in managing the community and look forward to One Wingate East becoming an important addition to the Needham community.”

Feldman added that the Ginger Care Living Board is confident the executive leadership team at One Wingate East will focus on creating an exceptional living environment and community experience for residents.

With its first residents now moved in, One Wingate East is beginning the next phase of its development — building a community within the newly completed residences and establishing itself as a new senior living option in Needham.
