BOSTON — CBT Architects has appointed Marilyn Shen as Principal and Director of Workplace, a strategic leadership move that reinforces the firm’s commitment to shaping the future of workplace design.
In her new role, Shen will guide CBT’s approach to creating environments that unite people, purpose, and performance.
Shen brings more than two decades of experience in architecture, workplace strategy, and real estate consulting. Known for blending strategic insight with a people-centered design philosophy, she has helped organizations rethink how space can deepen culture, enhance collaboration, and support continuous change.
“We are thrilled to welcome Marilyn to CBT,” said David Nagahiro, AIA, President of CBT Architects. “Her vision for workplace design aligns perfectly with our mission to create environments that foster connection, creativity, and well-being. Marilyn’s leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand our workplace practice and redefine how design can shape the future of work.”
Before joining CBT, Shen served as Managing Principal at TRIA Architects, where she led operations, firmwide growth, and culture development. She also founded Kodo, Inc., a workplace and real estate strategy consultancy focused on helping organizations navigate transformation.
A Certified Professional Culture Facilitator and LEED Green Associate, Shen is recognized for her ability to bridge design, human behavior, and organizational performance. Based in CBT’s Boston office, she will collaborate with teams across the firm—including workplace, life sciences, and mixed-use—to advance holistic, people-focused design solutions.
