As part of its overall national retail growth plan, L.L.Bean made the decision to expand its presence into Boston’s Seaport because of the high degree of awareness and affinity Boston residents have for L.L.Bean, in addition to the opportunities this dynamic, emerging neighborhood presents.

Another facet of its connection to Boston is L.L.Bean’s strong relationship with the Boston Red Sox, as a sponsor of the infield rain delay tarp since 2010. The new Seaport store will allow the people of Boston and beyond to experience first-hand everything the legendary outdoor retailer offers: quality merchandise, exemplary customer service, excellent outdoor programming, a welcoming shopping environment and an ethos to always do what’s right by its customers, employees, the environment and the community.

“Boston is a city that’s as passionate about the outdoors as we are,” says Greg Elder, Vice President of Stores at L.L.Bean. “We’re excited to bring the outdoor spirit to the heart of Boston at our first city store, and get to know the vibrant Seaport community.”

“For the Seaport to be L.L.Bean’s first urban location not only marks retail history, but also speaks volumes to the power of the neighborhood on a national and international scale. With L.L.Bean’s culture epitomizing all that is great about the New England outdoors, I can’t think of a more suiting city home for it than One Seaport, its waterfront views and proximity to I-93 and I-90 serve as Bostonians’ gateway to adventures outside of the city,” says Todd Norley, Vice President of Leasing, WS Development.

This will be L.L.Bean’s first urban store, its 5th retail store in Massachusetts, and its 36th retail store outside of Maine. L.L.Bean currently operates retail stores in Burlington, Dedham, Mansfield, and Mashpee, as well as a kiosk in the Prudential Center. The new store will employ approximately 25 people.
