Boston— Rogerson Communities has announced that Jeffrey W. Sacks, Senior Counsel at Nixon Peabody, will receive the Charles E. Rogerson Award for Community Service, the organization’s most prestigious recognition.

The award will also honor Nixon Peabody for its enduring support of affordable housing and senior living initiatives.

With a career spanning over four decades, Sacks has been a key legal force and tireless advocate for affordable housing in Massachusetts. His long-standing relationship with Rogerson Communities began in the 1980s, when he provided legal counsel on pivotal projects such as Peter Faneuil House, the Joy Street Residence, and Beacon House. Since then, his contributions have had a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of older adults across the region.

“We are thrilled to honor Jeff and Nixon Peabody with the Charles E. Rogerson Award,” said Walter Ramos, President and CEO of Rogerson Communities. “Jeff’s expertise, compassion, and advocacy have been instrumental in shaping our organization’s growth and expanding our reach to underserved older adults.”

Named in honor of former Board President Charles E. Rogerson, whose leadership helped transform Rogerson into a leader in senior care, the award celebrates Bostonians who exemplify the values of service, compassion, and impact. Past recipients include Secretary John Kerry, Governor Michael Dukakis and Kitty Dukakis, Governor William Weld, and Governor Charlie Baker.

In accepting the honor, Sacks emphasized the shared mission between his firm and Rogerson. “Nixon Peabody’s commitment to affordable and senior housing aligns perfectly with Rogerson’s vision. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and deeply honored to receive this award,” said Sacks.

Jeffrey Sacks and Nixon Peabody will be celebrated at Rogerson Communities’ annual Welcome Home Gala on September 29, 2025, at the Boston Harbor Hotel—a marquee fundraising event dedicated to improving the lives of low-income older adults.

Founded in 1860, Rogerson Communities provides affordable housing, memory care, independent living, and adult day health services for more than 2,000 older adults across 30 properties in Massachusetts. The organization is dedicated to helping older adults age with dignity, independence, and respect.
