BOSTON – Architectural Engineers, Inc.  a  mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), and lighting design services firm based in Boston, announced that James Shannon, PE, LEED AP has joined the firm as its plumbing and fire protection department head. Jim is a registered fire protection engineer with 16 years of experience in the building industry.

Jim’s specialties involve the design of fire protection systems in many building types, including identification of applicable codes and standards pertinent to each project. Through his experience, he has developed fire protection standards for several independent fire protection companies, as well as for departments within already established firms.

At AEI, Jim will be responsible for design, review, and oversight of the plumbing and fire protection group, including review of final submittals and design documents. Jim will stamp AEI’s fire protection drawings and provide project management for AEI’s plumbing and fire protection projects.

A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute for both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Jim is a registered fire protection engineer in Massachusetts, Florida, Missouri, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
