Nearly three decades after joining the firm as an Instrument Operator, Ellis takes on expanded leadership role
DANVERS, MA— Hancock Associates, a provider of land surveying, civil engineering and wetland science services, has promoted Jason A. Ellis, P.L.S., to Vice President, the company announced Monday.
Ellis, who has been with Hancock Associates for nearly 30 years, will take on an expanded role focused on business development, day-to-day operations and quality assurance and quality control as the firm continues to grow.
In his new position, Ellis will work to strengthen the company’s business development efforts while helping oversee operations and enhance QA/QC processes. The goal, according to the firm, is to maintain a high level of service and technical excellence for clients.
Ellis began his career at Hancock Associates nearly three decades ago as an Instrument Operator and has steadily advanced through the organization. He was named an Associate of the firm in 2017 and became Survey Manager–Eastern Operations in 2025, overseeing the company’s Boston, Chelmsford, Danvers and Newburyport offices.
“Jason is deeply committed to Hancock’s success, consistently bringing forward new ideas, evaluating innovative equipment, and identifying opportunities for growth and operational improvement,” said Wayne C. Jalbert, P.L.S., President of Hancock Associates.
Jalbert added that Ellis is an active contributor to several company committees, including Recruitment and CAD, where he has helped shape the firm’s future.
“We’re thrilled to welcome him to our leadership team and look forward to his continued success,” Jalbert said.
Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Regional Planning with a minor in Cartography from Westfield State College. He is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Massachusetts and a member of the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers (MALSCE).
A Danvers resident, Ellis has spent much of his professional career with Hancock Associates, progressing from an entry-level surveying position to a senior leadership role.
His promotion comes as Hancock Associates continues to build on its multidisciplinary platform serving clients through land surveying, civil engineering and wetland science services.
In his new leadership position, Ellis will bring nearly three decades of institutional knowledge and surveying experience to the firm while helping guide its business development, operations and quality initiatives.
