WOBURN, Mass. — The Hamilton Company has announced the completion and initial occupancy of Mill Street Heights, a new 72-unit multifamily apartment community in Woburn, marking a significant expansion of the firm’s residential footprint in the region. Tenants began moving into the four-story development on December 1, following the issuance of a certificate of occupancy on November 18.
Mill Street Heights is located on 3.2 acres adjacent to Mill Street Gardens, an established 181-unit apartment community, together creating one of the largest and most comprehensive multifamily residential campuses in Woburn. The Hamilton Company, in partnership with New England Realty Associates (NERA), acquired Mill Street Gardens and the adjacent development site for $59.6 million in December 2019.
“Mill Street Heights provides individuals and households at all income levels the opportunity to have transit-friendly, modern housing that connects Woburn and Boston and allows easy access to the entire region,” said Jameson Brown, CEO of The Hamilton Company. “Together with Mill Street Gardens, this property represents one of the finest multifamily residential communities in the region.”
Of the 72 newly delivered apartments, 18 units are reserved for households earning at or below 80 percent of Area Median Income, in compliance with Massachusetts Chapter 40B guidelines. The development introduces a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences, each designed with modern layouts, high-end finishes, and energy-efficient systems.
Construction of Mill Street Heights was overseen by NEI General Contracting. “At a time when communities face a housing crisis, this project represents a meaningful step toward providing high-quality housing for families of all backgrounds and income levels,” said Bill Novick, CPHB, project manager for NEI.
The new building features a range of amenities, including covered parking for vehicles and bicycles, a resident lounge, and ample tenant storage. Architectural design was led by O’Sullivan Architects, with Associate Principal Jonathan Stone noting that the project was designed to enhance both resident experience and the character of the surrounding community.
Located less than two miles from Interstates 93 and 95/Route 128, the Mill Street communities offer convenient access to MBTA Commuter Rail service, MBTA’s Route 354 bus, and nearby retail and dining at Woburn Village.
NERA, headquartered in Allston, owns nearly 3,000 apartments and approximately 130,000 square feet of commercial space, and trades on the NYSE under the symbol NEN.
