BOSTON – The Davis Companies announced the appointment of Mai Zhang as Senior Vice President of Asset Management.
Zhang will lead the asset management of Davis’ multi-family portfolio, which includes both direct and joint venture investments, and will play an instrumental role in the continued expansion of the firm’s multifamily investments, leveraging best practices to enable scalability and enhanced performance.
As the firm’s portfolio continues to expand in the Northeast, Southeast/Sunbelt region and other markets in the United States, Zhang will play a critical role in every stage of the investment process, from acquisition to disposition.
During a 10-year tenure prior to joining Davis, Zhang held various leadership roles at JBG Smith Properties (NYSE: JBGS) in the DC metro region. During that time, he led the operating strategy for approximately 6,500 residential units and oversaw value-add investment initiatives.
“Mai’s experience with a fully integrated, top tier investor/operator platform with entrepreneurial roots that are similar to ours is the precise kind of talent we had hoped to add to the team. While we view multi-family assets first and foremost as attractive real estate investments, we are mindful that they are also communities in which people live. We believe Mai has the right blend of skills to adeptly manage these priorities,” said Cappy Daume, Chief Portfolio Management Officer at Davis. “We are delighted to welcome Mai to the team and are confident that his energy and thoughtfulness and his knowledge and experience will be highly influential in building upon Davis’ commitment to invest in and deliver high-quality, community-focused residential projects.”
“Davis has a stellar reputation for its creativity, nimbleness, and for taking on complex challenges in order to deliver maximum value for its investors,” said Zhang. “With housing investment and development in high demand across the country, I’m thrilled for the opportunity to contribute to this legacy of the firm and to helping to continue to expand its multifamily housing portfolio.”
Zhang holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University and is a CFA Charterholder.
