Real estate investment firm hires former Bain Capital executive to lead fundraising and capital formation efforts.
BOSTON — The Davis Companies has appointed Douglas Doughty as managing director of equity capital markets, adding an experienced real estate investment executive to its leadership team as the firm expands its capital formation efforts.
Based in Davis’ New York City office, Doughty will lead equity fundraising initiatives and work with the firm’s investor relations, investment and senior leadership teams. He will report to Quentin Reynolds, president and chief investment officer at Davis.
Doughty joins Davis with more than 25 years of experience in real estate investment strategy, capital formation, portfolio management and institutional business development. He most recently served as managing director and head of strategy for real estate at Bain Capital and previously held senior leadership roles at Fortress Investment Group and J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
“Doug joins Davis at an exciting point in the firm’s growth – as we celebrate 50 years of operations and continue building on the momentum across our investment and operating platforms,” Reynolds said in a statement. “His deep experience expanding global investor relationships, leading institutional business development and shaping real estate investment strategy will be invaluable as we strengthen our capital formation capabilities and continue growing our national platform.”
Davis, a vertically integrated real estate investment, development and management firm headquartered in Boston, has invested $13.9 billion in gross asset value through real estate equity, debt and fixed-income securities since its founding. The firm owns a diversified portfolio of approximately 10.8 million square feet of healthcare and life science, industrial, retail, office and hospitality properties, along with more than 4,890 residential units nationwide.
The company invests across multiple real estate sectors, with primary concentrations in residential, industrial, self-storage, and science and technology assets.
Since launching commingled real estate funds in 2009, Davis has raised approximately $3 billion in equity across five value-added funds. In 2025, the firm expanded its investment platform with the launch of a credit business focused on high-yield mortgage lending, preferred equity, mezzanine investments and acquisitions of performing notes and commercial mortgage-backed securities.
“I’m pleased to join Davis at an important time for the real estate industry,” Doughty said in a statement. “In today’s market, creating value at the asset level is an increasingly important part of investment strategy. Davis’ vertically integrated platform, combined with the depth, expertise and collaboration of its team, positions the firm well to execute durable investment strategies and contribute to the long-term value Davis works to create for its investors.”
Doughty holds an M.B.A. in finance, management, strategy and real estate from Northwestern University and bachelor’s degrees in accounting and economics from Penn State University.
