BOSTON– Cronin Development welcomes the much-anticipated tower crane to The St. Regis Residences at 150 Seaport Boulevard in Boston this week marking a critical step in the building’s construction program and the start of vertical construction.

General Contractor John Moriarty and Associates is constructing the 114-home residential tower.

Throughout the first phase of construction, work was centered on the foundation, which is comprised of 10,500 cubic yards of reinforced concrete with load bearing walls and structural elements mounted on bedrock. Now, the project begins its rapid ascent and formation of the building’s unique structural design and billowing form, designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects.

Key points unique to the construction of The St. Regis Residences, Boston include:

  • Foundation is anchored on bedrock, more than 150 feet below grade
The concrete slab for each floor is unique, slightly rotating in order create the twisting facade
  • Reinforced concrete structure provides a higher level of protection from interior sound and vibrations
  • To support construction of the building’s unique cantilever, a diagonal steel beam is placed up to the five-story mark to support a hung column
  • When the top floor is poured, the steel beam will be cut away leaving the hung column supported from above within the concrete infrastructure

Rising directly on Boston’s waterfront, this residential-only tower features an iconic design from Elkus Manfredi Architects that mimics the curvilinear shape of a tall ship at sail. The tower’s 114 luxury condominiums will range from one-bedroom condominiums to penthouse homes, each with extraordinary views of Boston Harbor. Owners will have access to the St. Regis brand’s legendary services, including highly personalized and anticipatory butler and concierge assistance, and exclusive resident use of the tower’s swimming pool, spa, exercise room, library, sports simulator, grand lounge, wine vaults, media room and guest suites. The signature restaurant with outdoor terrace will provide in-residence private dining as well as cater to residents, guests and neighbors.
