NEWTON, MA — In a move signaling growth and strategic expansion, Commodore Builders has officially relocated its headquarters to a newly acquired office building in West Newton.
The Boston-based construction firm’s relocation is part of a larger real estate transaction in which a group of investors, including Commodore’s CEO Joe Albanese, acquired the property for $23.8 million.
The acquisition, reported by the Boston Business Journal, involved the purchase of 1210-1230 Washington Street, a three-story, 96,000-square-foot office building complete with an adjacent parking garage.
The buyers, led by Albanese alongside Bill Cress of Cambridge’s Prospectus LLC, closed the deal on Monday. The building had previously been owned by a joint venture between The Davis Cos. and Marcus Partners, who originally purchased the property in 2005 for $16.6 million.
According to Albanese, Commodore’s move to the new office was completed on Tuesday, with the company taking up 30,000 square feet of space in the building, according to BBJ.
This relocation will house approximately half of the company’s workforce, which consists of around 240 employees. The remainder of the team will continue working on-site at various project locations across the region.
The relocation and acquisition underscore Commodore Builders’ ongoing commitment to growth. With a history of executing high-profile construction projects throughout the Boston area, the company’s move into a larger office space reflects both its increasing size and its expanding role within the local real estate and construction industries.
